Join us for a live update on the progress of the Detroit People’s Food Co-op, an innovative, Black-led startup food co-op that is one piece of a larger vision of Black food sovereignty set out by the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network (DBCFSN). This co-op has over 1100 owners already and is getting close to breaking ground on their retail store, come hear from their founder and Executive Director of DBCFSN, Malik Yakini, and board president, Akua Woolbright Ph.D., on their progress, what challenges they are working to overcome to get to opening day, and their future.
